Color Interiors Brings Its Flooring and Design Expertise to the Southern Living Showcase Home

Every home we work on matters to us. But every so often, a project comes along that the whole region gets to walk through. For everyone at Color Interiors, the Southern Living Showcase Home was that kind of milestone.

Custom builder Kurk Homes invited us to provide and install the flooring and tile for The Reveille. This is their Southern Living Showcase Home in the Mission Ranch community of College Station, Texas. Right away, our whole team felt the excitement. That included the designers who help homeowners in our showrooms every day. It also included the installers who would lay every plank, plus the tile craftsmen whose work thousands of visitors would soon see. After all, people from across the region tour, photograph, and study a Southern Living Showcase Home. So we consider our craftsmanship in every room of this home a true honor.

A Southern Living Showcase Home with a Purpose

The Reveille sits in Mission Ranch, a beautifully wooded community in College Station. In fact, the home’s name is a proud nod to Texas A&M’s beloved mascot. Kurk Homes built it through the Southern Living Custom Builder Program. Southern Living reserves that designation for builders who meet its standard for Southern architecture and craftsmanship. As a result, the home showcases the latest in custom design trends, with inspiration around every corner.

However, the mission behind this home made the project even more meaningful. The public Showcase Home Tour ran over three weekends in June 2026. Moreover, it raised funds for two outstanding veteran organizations: Camp Hope (PTSD Foundation of America) and Operation Finally Home. Color Interiors also proudly hosted one of the tour evenings. We welcomed guests to walk the home, connect with local partners, and support these causes honoring America’s veterans. Because every visitor crossing our floors was also giving back, we’ll always remember this project.

Installing the Flooring: A Warm Foundation for the Whole Home

For the main living areas, we supplied and installed Shaw luxury vinyl plank in Woodland Truffle. This warm, wood-look tone fits the home’s classic Southern style perfectly.

It was a rewarding selection to work with. The home’s interiors lean light and airy, with beautiful finishes and big windows full of Texas sunlight. Woodland Truffle gives all that brightness something to rest on. It’s deep enough to anchor the open floor plan, yet neutral enough to complement the furnishings. Additionally, its realistic graining looks so authentic that visitors regularly mistake it for hardwood.

Our installation team took particular pride in the continuity. In an open-concept home, the flooring runs unbroken from the entry through the kitchen and living spaces. Therefore, our crew carefully planned the layout, the plank direction, and every transition before laying the first row. The finished result was one seamless, warm surface connecting the whole home, which was deeply satisfying.
